Gamlegård.
In Harlösa the owner of Hjularöd had a home built in 1823, where the old residents of the estate could live. This old people´s home is by the church, and is an example of what a poorhouse was like in the 19th century. If you want to see a living farm from the past, you must visit Trumpetarbostället in Billinge. This is one of the country´s very first show farms, dating back to the 13th century. This is where Lennart Gunnarsson lives with his family, and besides the pigs, sheep, geese, hens, dogs and cats, Lennart keeps a flock of Swedish Yellow ducks, which were believed to have died out in the 1970s.
Trumpetarbostället has been extended to incorporate another old building, Borgmästargården. The aim is to restore the old village that was here before the act on the consolidation of peasant farmland in 1834. Lennart has dismantled the old buildings, and reassembled them piece by piece on their original site. However, a lot of material was missing, so whatever Lennart was unable to find and restore from other old farms he has manufactured himself in the original way. Knowledge of old techniques and access to tools are important elements of Lennart´s work. The farm is now going to be furnished with two apartments for hire, a meeting room and a museum. “People must be able to gather here and enjoy themselves," says Lennart. “The idea is that as many people as possible can enjoy the building."
